I still believe, though man is an instrument in God's hands, too much emphasis is given today on the human "soul winner", and not enough to the Holy Ghost.

As for a sinner giving his heart to
Jesus- bad phraseology, IMHO. Not enough time and space here to analyze it all, but we will talk more soon.

Certainly your work on the hardshells is massive and covers much historic ground. What I have read is "right on".They are definitely extreme and unbiblical.

Blessings,

Charlescharleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12433399617145386332noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34962937.post-57882839192830542242008-04-15T15:53:00.000-04:002008-04-15T15:53:00.000-04:00Dear Brother Charles:First, let me say that I endo...Dear Brother Charles:

First, let me say that I endorse 95% of what you have here written and am glad that you believe the sovereignty of God and also the truth that God regenerates his elect through the preaching of the gospel and that regeneration produces not only "life" but also "faith" and "repentance". I am glad that you follow Spurgeon in this and not the Hyper Calvinists such as the Hardshells and some Reformed Baptists.

However, I must take issue with two remarks you made. You said:

"This certainly does away with the modern terminology, “give your heart to Jesus.” The heart is not the sinner’s to give to Jesus! It belongs to the Father. If not, how could He give anyone to His Son?"

I think saying such things are not necessary. Besides, it is very scriptural to ask sinners to give their heart to God.

"My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways." (Proverbs 23: 26)

You also said:

"When it is all analyzed the true “soul winner” is the Holy Spirit! Let’s don’t try to do His job."

Again, this sounds like what Hypers say frequently. However, Jesus being the chief soul winner does not eliminate his instruments (preachers of the gospel) also being "soul winners." Surely this was Spurgeon's view also. Wrote Paul:

"To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some." (I Cor. 9: 22) See also Philippians 3:8

Hope this helps you.

God bless and take care.

Stephen

www.baptistgadfly.blogspot.com
("The Baptist Gadfly")

www.stephenmgarrett.blogspot.com
("My Daily Bread")My Daily Breadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11361448064913241482noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34962937.post-11861871928370414632008-04-03T14:10:00.000-04:002008-04-03T14:10:00.000-04:00Thank you very much. This one is so true and real. Jesus talked about the sovereignty of God, it's true.
In the present, many preachers talks about the man decision to accept God. But how a dead sinner can hear the salvation call and move by him/her self? A greater power must give life to that dead sinner, so he/she can react to that call.
Brother Charles please continue with your great ministry through the internet so people like me can access to these resources.

From Dominican Republic recieve a salutation.
God Bless You.
WellingtonWellingtonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18434106690127516888noreply@blogger.com
