A FEW MORSELS FOR YOU FROM CHARLES WOODRUFF

                                             UNIVERSALISM ANYONE?
A Universal Notice- “God ---now commandeth all men everywhere to Repent.” Acts 17:30.

A Universal Necessity-----“As it is written, there is none righteous,
no, not one.”
Romans 3:10 (cp. With Psalm 14:1 and Psalm 53:1).

A Universal Neglect----“There is none that understandeth, there is
none that seeketh after God”
. Romans 3:11(cp with Psalm 14:2
and Psalm 53:2).

                                                GOD'S  SOVEREIGNTY
“ We say again, God’s sovereignty is never meant to destroy
man’s responsibility. We are to make diligent use of all the means
which God has appointed for the salvation of souls. We are bidden to preach the gospel to ‘every creature’. Grace is free; the invitation is broad enough to take in ‘whosoever believeth’. Christ turns away
none who come to him. Yet, after we have done all, after we have
planted and watered, it is God who ‘giveth the increase’ and this he
does as best pleaseth his sovereign will.”
The Seven Sayings of the Saviour on the Cross, Chapter 2   “The Word of Salvation”
---A.W Pink

                       SCRIPTURES THAT AIN'T SCRIPTURES
“God helps those who help themselves.”
“Give God a chance.”
“Cleanliness is next to godliness.”
“Prayer changes things.”
“You take the first step--God will do the rest.”
“Let God save you today.”
“Money is the root of all evil.”
“He who builds a bridge will have to cross it one day.”

All of the above sayings are mistaken for Bible quotes. Some are distorted quotes, some not even near quotes of true scriptures. Not all of these sayings are bad, or grossly untrue, just not in the Bible.

                              PROFOUND THOUGHTS
The Old Testament is an account of a nation.
The New Testament is an account of a MAN.
The Nation was founded and nurtured of God,
To bring the MAN into the world.
Quoted from: Halley’s Bible Handbook. Great words, I would only add this:
The MAN spoken of is the GOD-MAN, Jesus Christ.

                     REFLECTIONS FROM LUTHER
Three A.M. February 18, 1546---Martin Luther’s dying words:   “We are beggars, this is true. God is free, utterly free in His grace, and we are beggars, ‘pray-ers’. That is how we live. That is how we study, so that God gets the glory, and we get the grace.”

A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;
Our helper He, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing:
For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and power are great, and, armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal.

Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing;
Were not the right Man on our side, the Man of God's own choosing:
Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He;
Lord Sabaoth, His Name, from age to age the same,
And He must win the battle.

And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph through us
The Prince of Darkness grim, we tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure, for lo, his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.

That word above all earthly powers, no thanks to them, abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours through Him Who with us sideth:
Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also;
The body they may kill: God's truth abideth still,
His kingdom is forever.
